Mission

The Gifted Grannies are a non-profit organization and all the hours spent in the shop are strictly volunteer. Our main objective is helping individuals, groups and organizations throughout the community--leaning toward our youth, the leaders of the future. In 11 years of operating the thrift shop there has been over 22,000 volunteer hours put in and over $127,000.00 in donations given to date. A receipt by request for tax purposes can be given to individuals donating items to the thrift store.

History

The Rosalia Gifted Granny’s Club is a member of the Associated Grandmother Clubs of Washington, Inc. (incorporated on April 11, 1955). There are 17 clubs throughout Washington state. Rosalia and Colfax are the only clubs operating thrift stores.

The Gifted Granny’s Club officially began on March 26,1992 with 10 Charter members. Grand opening was Battle Days weekend of 1992. Membership now totals 27 with ladies from Rosalia, Malden and Thornton. Ella Mae Busch is responsible for organizing the club and acquiring a building for our use. Don and Wanda Sheahan agreed to let us have use of our present site rent free at 534 S. Whitman St.-- on the corner by the clock. In 1999 the club purchased the building from the Sheahans.

Donations

We are very fortunate living in a community of extremely generous people. It’s a good feeling to be able to help individuals and groups realize their goals. And our customers.. ..where would we be without them?

We accept and appreciate donations of most everything. It should be clean and suitable for resale. We usually don’t accept furniture and appliances because of limited space. Please check with a member if you have such items, rather than just dropping it off. We don’t appreciate garbage, it costs us to get rid of it, and that is not our purpose.

Hours

The thrift shop is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and the first Saturday of each month from 11am-4pm.
